However, I've been crazy stressed lately and sort of going out of my mind with constant anxiety. As I looked into natural ways to relax, oil diffusers kept popping up. So along with Pure diffuser, I grabbed a set of essential oils and an amazing book by Osho (zen priest). I've been using my diffuser for a couple of weeks now, and reading this awesome book and I'm telling you guys... I have been feeling so chill! The anxiety's still there but this definitely helps. I will be buying an oil diffuser for my car too, road rage no more.
Aright, so lets talk aromatherapy, essential oils and their benefits.
Aromatherapy as we know it now has been practices in Europe since the early 1900's, but dates back thousands of years back. It is know to stimulate brain function, reducing stress, relive headaches and muscle pain.
Essential oils are distilled from organically grown plants and trees. There is a vast variety of oils with different beneficial properties. However when buying your oils pay attention to ingredients label. Look for 100% pure oils with no synthetic additives, since US does not regulate use of the word "aromatherapy" some vendors cut corners and put out half ass products that might make your home smell pretty, but will do absolutely nothing for you. And definitely stay away from anything with "fragrance" on the label.
Lavender - improves sleep quality, promotes better concentration and may encourage hair growth.
Eucalyptus - Anti-inflammatory, decongestant, antibacterial, stimulant. If mixed with peppermint can reduce headaches, promote mental and muscular relaxation.
Peppermint - Can help alleviate nausea, headache, upset stomach, gas, indigestion and anxiety.
Tea Tree - Promotes absorption of nutrients, speeds up healing rate of scars. Can cure cough and cold. It can also kill mold and other harmful bacteria along with insects.
Orange - Soothes inflammation, fights depression, and uplifts mood. Helps to remove toxins, strengthens immune system.
Lemon grass - Reduces pain, fights depression, inhibits microbial growth, can reduce fever, strengthens gums and hair, soothes inflammation.
So the listed oils is what I got in the set I've purchased from Amazon but out of the six, three have been my go to. Lavender, Eucalyptus and Orange. I like to mix the three, which is also know as Essential Oil Synergy. I do this every single day, as soon as I get home from work. I'll mix 6 drops of Lavender, about 4 of Eucalyptus and a drop or two of Orange. #OilVooDooRecipe
And this is where its at folks!
No expensive therapy here. Having a shitty day? Drop a few drops of whatever oil does it for you, center your mind (again, Emotional wellness by Osho is really good) and chill.
Does anyone have any de-stressing tips or tricks? What do you do after a long, crappy day at work?
Oh, also totally safe for dogs. Obviously keep in mind that their smell is thousand times better then ours... Imagine being stuck in an elevator with an overly perfumed individual... yeah, don't do that to your pet. And when diffusing for the first time, keep an eye out, if your buddy seams uncomfortable, starts sneezing or leaves the room, try using a different oil or a lower dose.
